Learning together is so much fun!

The children in 6NS have been paired up with children in 1H. The idea is for them to work together on reading skills and any other activities we feel they could do well together. Today we had The Globe where the children could meet people from all different cultures and backgrounds. Some of the places our visitors came from were France, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Spain to name a few. We decided this would be a perfect opportunity for the children to work with their partners – Year 6 could support the Year 1 with their writing whilst learning themselves. It was so lovely to watch all partners working so well together! We can’t wait for our next opportunity to work together!

Chicks!

The other week we were lucky enough to go and see the chicks which had hatched only days earlier. We enjoyed holding them and finding out that some of them would be staying with us.

St Mary’s Choir at the RNCM!

Our amazing choir went on an evening trip to perform at the Easter Concert at the Royal Northern College of Music!

We performed with Loreto College, Rolls Crescent and Our Lady of Divine Mercy.

All of the choir were incredible! They were polite and kind to everyone they met and in true St Mary’s Style were the best they could be!

Blue Planet Live

This week the BBC held a Blue Planet Live learning programme. The children in Year 6 and 5 watched the live lesson and discussed the issues which were raised in it. It was a really interesting show and it really got us thinking about how we could protect our sea, animals and land.

Imperial War Museum

Last week we went on a trip to the Imperial War Museum to find out about WWII. I was so proud of all the children’s behaviour and we even had staff coming up to us to praise how sensible and interested we were. We spent some time trying to answer questions which we had been given. We were then given cameras and we had to make our own short documentaries. We still had a little bit of time left at the end so the children chose an area which interested them the most and they drew something from that. All the children said it was an amazing trip and i must admit, i really enjoyed it too!
